The Zombie Studies wiki attempts to provide a unique resource, an analytical "map" of the zombie narrative subgenre. Its primary purpose is to identify and trace the subgenre's underlying structures and connections, and the interconnected nature of the wiki format promotes this exploration of interconnectedness. Entries should link to as many other entries as possible, and link to outside sources rather than duplicating the information found there.
This is neither a personal blog nor a repository of reviews, but a research tool. Avoid judgments of a text's quality, as such judgments are necessarily subjective and not really relevant to the project. Accordingly, avoid any use of the first person ("I"), which makes the subject of your entry you rather than your text or the genre.
An entry's content should be primarily focused upon exploring and enlightening the issues identified in the list of Critical Questions. If you feel that the list is incomplete, you should add questions that you feel are appropriate. Not all of the questions on the list will be relevant to every text, but you should consider the relevance of each question when writing or revising your entry.
This wiki is part of a college English course, and thus entries should reflect college-level academic writing conventions. These conventions include the appropriate formatting of text titles (italics or quotation marks).
These are foundational pieces of information, and should be placed at the start of the entry. See the entry for I Am Legend for an example.
"Brief" means half a dozen sentences or fewer. The synopsis is not intended to detail every action of the plot or provide information on every character, but to give a very concise sense of what the text is about. The synopsis is not meant to be a substitute for the subject text.
One of the primary purposes of this wiki is to identify links amongst texts in the subgenre. Entry writers should seek to identify as many links as possible, and to create clickable links to entries within the wiki and sources outside of the wiki wherever possible.
Break up text with formatted category headings that help readers to identify the nature of information.
